The grant can primarily be applied for by asylum seekers who received their residence permit no later than September 12, 2024, and who want to return to their country of origin. For an adult, the grant amounts to SEK 350,000.
The money will be paid to recipients on three different occasions. The state's costs are estimated to be SEK 110 million in 2026, SEK 180 million in 2027, and SEK 310 million in 2028 and 2029, the Swedish Migration Board writes in its budget submission to the government.
