A 24-year-old man from Tyresö south of Stockholm collected hundreds of thousands of kronor for the Islamic State on Tiktok. Now he is sentenced to prison for three years and ten months.

Attunda District Court convicts him of eleven cases of serious financing of terrorism.

It was between the summer of 2022 and the spring of 2024 that the man from Sweden collected money for IS via, among other things, Tiktok. He received cryptocurrency, Swedish kronor and American dollars and forwarded the money to IS with the help of a man who represented the terrorist movement and assisted him with the practicalities.

According to the investigation, approximately 600,000 kronor have been sent from the man's accounts. The police can also link him to people with connections to IS, including the man who was previously convicted this year of participating in the terrorist organization after the police struck against a local premises in Tyresö.

In interrogations, the man has denied the crime and claimed that the collection was for humanitarian purposes and that the money was intended for women in need.

He was arrested at Arlanda in December last year and has been detained since then. The investigation has been conducted by Säpo under the leadership of a prosecutor at the National Security Unit.
