The bite went down to the neck vertebrae, broke two vertebrae and damaged the spinal cord, she tells the newspaper.
The incident occurred in October when the woman was volunteering on a horse safari. She was riding at the back when the lion appeared.
The woman fell off the runaway horse and the lion attacked and bit the woman. However, for some reason, the lion released its grip and ran away.
The woman was taken to hospital and treated in the intensive care unit as she had suffered a stroke, broken her wrist and the wound from the bite had become infected.
Despite what has happened, she has decided to return to South Africa.
Many people think I'm stupid, but the idea is that I'm going to get on the horse and go on safari again. But I've promised myself that I'll never walk to the back in the future.
