The Purchasing Managers' Index for Swedish industry rose to 55.3 in December, up from 54.7 the previous month.

This is now the sixth month in a row that the index is above its historical average (54.3).

"Swedish industry continues to be in an expansionary phase with index levels that are considerably higher than in the US and the eurozone. The strengthening of the krona and a sluggish global economy have not prevented the industry from growing, although there is a risk of setbacks later," says Jörgen Kennemar, responsible for the analysis of the purchasing managers' index at Swedbank.
