It will be no Olympic Games for the Swedish ice dancers Milla Ruud Reitan and Nikolaj Majorov – they ended up just outside the quota spot in the Olympic Games qualification.

The Swedes finished fifth in the Olympic Games qualification in Beijing and the top four receive quota places. Ruud Reitan and Majorov were 0.23 points away from fourth place.

"That we are so close, yes it feels. But we are also very proud of what we have achieved here during the qualification. We have grown enormously as a pair since we started skating together, and we see this as a step on the way to even bigger goals. We take with us everything we have learned from this competition – this is just the beginning of our journey", say the figure skaters to the Swedish Figure Skating Association's website.

The pair began their joint effort in the spring of 2023 and qualified already during their debut season to both the European Championship and the World Championship.

"That they are so close to an Olympic Games spot shows both what capacity they have today and what potential they have for the future", says the association's sports manager Anna Burwall.
