Swedish households’ stock assets overtake real estate for first time, SEB says

The value of equity assets rose by SEK 1.3 trillion, or 10.9 percent, to SEK 13.2 trillion during the quarter. The value of real estate assets rose by SEK 201 billion, or 1.6 percent, to SEK 13.1 trillion.

"For the first time in the history of the Savings Barometer, equity assets are greater than real estate assets, something that has never been measured before," says SEB's private economist Américo Fernández in a press release.

The value of households' total assets increased by 5.8 percent in the second quarter, to SEK 32.7 trillion. Liabilities increased by 1.0 percent to SEK 5.6 trillion. Net wealth thus rose by 6.8 percent to SEK 27.1 trillion, according to the barometer.
