This is according to new figures from the state mortgage bank SBAB. House prices rose by 0.4 percent in June.

A modest increase, but strong for the month of June, according to Robert Boije, chief economist at SBAB.

Apartment prices rose by 0.6 percent in June for Sweden as a whole, and house prices by 0.3 percent.

Prices for both houses and apartments rose the most in central Sweden, while apartment prices fell in northern Sweden and Greater Gothenburg. House prices, in turn, fell in northern Sweden and Greater Stockholm.

Housing prices will continue to increase over the next two years, between 4 and 5 percent per year, Boije predicts, as household incomes are expected to increase at a normal rate and mortgage interest rates remain unchanged.

But everything depends on the Middle East conflict not escalating so that inflation picks up and interest rates rise, he tells TT.
