It was a lively first period when Islanders met San Jose at home on Tuesday evening. The two teams scored goals alternately at a frantic pace and after the first quarter the score was 2–2.
In the last minute of the period, however, Emil Heinemann made sure that Islanders took the lead when he sent the puck into the net in his third goal of the season. The team's lead was further secured with Matthew Schaefers' goal in the 7th minute of the second period.
That San Jose got a third goal in the last period ultimately played no role for the final result and Islanders could bring home their third straight win.
We found a way to win, says Islanders leader Patrick Roy after the match according to nhl.com.
