"The increase has occurred primarily in the electricity and district heating sector, where the increase was 10 percent. This is in connection with lower outdoor temperatures in Sweden during the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same quarter in 2025," writes Statistics Sweden in a press release.
Mineral extraction, i.e. mining, also increased emissions, while they decreased in the manufacturing industry - especially in the production of steel and metals.
Emissions in the transport sector were unchanged, while emissions from construction activities decreased slightly.
