The decline is explained, among other things, by the fact that the harvest of winter wheat is expected to decrease by 10 percent to 3.2 million tons, according to this year's harvest forecast from the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
"The decrease is explained both by reduced yield per hectare for most crops and reduced areas for autumn-sown crops," the Swedish Board of Agriculture writes in a press release.
The total harvest of oilseeds, such as rapeseed and turnip, is estimated at just over 0.38 million tonnes. This is 5 percent lower than last year.
"In several parts of the country, July has given crops better conditions than could be expected at the end of June. The harvest situation has improved, but the volume is still expected to be significantly less than last year," writes Per Germundsson, grain manager at Lantmännen, in a comment.
