Swedish government wants to strengthen Jewish literature

What then is meant by “Jewish literature”? Ultimately, it is up to the Swedish Arts Council to define which books and authors may or may not be included, according to Harald Eiken, press secretary to Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (M).

"Jewish literature carries forward memories, experiences and traditions across generations and at the same time sheds light on Jewish life today," says Liljestrand in a press release.

The assignment is part of the government's strategy to strengthen Jewish life and combat anti-Semitism in Sweden. The focus on "Jewish literature" is financed through that strategy.
