The inquiry will map and compile knowledge about the status of the Swedish language in different parts of the country, how it affects integration and exclusion, and propose ways to improve opportunities and incentives for more people to learn Swedish, the government writes in a press release.
"Knowing Swedish is crucial for establishing yourself in society. When people can communicate and understand each other, both cohesion and the opportunity to become part of the community are strengthened," says Minister of Education and Integration Simona Mohamsson (L).
The assignment must be reported no later than August 31, 2027.
