”I have now chosen to take a step back and end my professional career. I want to spend more time with my family, and I really feel motivated to start a new chapter in life”, writes Alexander Björk.
Last summer, Björk talked about being in a tough period.
If you are in a period when you do not think golf is fun, then it becomes easy. I do not know when I last thought golf was fun. It has not been fun for the last year, at least. It has been tough, he said to Smålandsposten in June 2024 ahead of a planned month-long break.
After a successful 2023 on the European Tour (now DP World Tour) Björk secured playing rights on the PGA Tour for 2024, but his start in the USA that season became tough. He missed the qualifying limit in five of eleven played tournaments during the spring and reached a shared eleventh place at best.
This year, the 35-year-old has played four tournaments on the European Tour with a shared eighth place as the best result. Björk won the title on the tour when he won in China in 2018.
Björk writes that he will play a final tournament on the DP World Tour in 2026.
