The proposal would raise the limit from today's 2,800 so-called golf IDs (i.e., members) for an 18-hole course to 6,800.
The association's deputy secretary general, Bo Bengtsson, said in a press release that the association has had "open discussions" with the Swedish Competition Authority during the investigation into the issue, which has been a hot potato in Swedish golf.
According to the Golf Association, three of Sweden's 448 clubs would exceed the maximum under the new proposal. They are proposed to reduce the excess by 50 percent before the end of the year, and the remainder by December 31, 2027.
A decision on the matter will be made at the union meeting on April 19.
