Häcken's goalkeeper legend Peter Abrahamsson, 37, is retiring after the season.

”A part of me never wants to leave, but I also feel a certain relief and pride”, he says in a press release from Häcken.

”It is much due to my body and that the back injury I have had this year does not get better”, he says. ”I have all the time tried, and wanted, to come back, but it does not respond as I want. And then the realization is that it will probably not work unfortunately”.

The 37-year-old will be thanked in Häcken's last home match for the season, against Malmö FF on Saturday.

Abrahamsson came to Häcken in 2014 and has made 365 matches for the club. He won the SM gold in 2022, and it became four cup titles with the black and yellows.

The goalkeeper has made two appearances for the Swedish national team.
