Abdo was arrested during a police operation in Turkey in July last year. He is suspected there of international drug trafficking and money laundering. In Sweden, he is being held in absentia in several cases, including instigation of attempted murder and aggravated drug trafficking.
It was initially unclear whether Abdo could be extradited to Sweden and tried here. It is now clear that the prosecution and trial will take place in Turkey.
He is detained in Turkey and there will be a legal process there, and we are working with the goal of Turkey taking over the prosecution of certain selected preliminary investigations, prosecutor Daniel Jonsson told TV4 Nyheterna.
