A double murder in Grimmered in February last year triggered a series of violent crimes in the Gothenburg area. He is believed to be the leader of the gang suspected of being behind several of the crimes.

When he was arrested during a layover, he was, according to CBC News, on his way from Bangkok to Mexico.

Prosecutor Karl-Erik Esbo, head of the National Unit against International and Organized Crime, confirms that they are in contact with Canadian authorities.

He does not, however, want to comment on the Swedish suspicions against the man.

This is a sensitive process. If we have the opportunity to get this person detained, we are very cautious and low-key in our statements until we have him on Swedish soil, he says to GP.
