The arrest was made by Moroccan authorities on Friday evening. The 31-year-old man has been detained in absentia and is wanted by Interpol on suspicion of two counts of preparation for murder.
"We assess that it is a strategically important arrest that we believe affects the criminal network's ability to carry out violent and drug crimes in which the now arrested man had a central role," writes Anders Wiberg, head of the international unit at Noa, in a press release.
The man, who lives in Malmö, will be sought for extradition to Sweden. He is said to have been abroad in recent years.
