Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) hopes for a "swift process" for the Swedish journalist Joakim Medin who is imprisoned in Turkey.
On Wednesday, the trial against Medin for the charge "insulting the president" begins. Staff from the Swedish embassy are present.
We have worked intensively and on several different levels with the goal of getting Joakim Medin home as quickly as possible, says Malmer Stenergard to TT from Bornholm, where she is participating in a Nordic-Baltic foreign ministers' meeting.
She emphasizes that the government always views "very seriously" when journalists are arrested and prosecuted.
When we have taken part of the indictment, we see that it targets the journalistic act, we view that seriously.
