The Indonesian Halal Authority and the Swedish Scandinavian Halal Certification (SHC) have entered into an agreement that allows SHC to issue halal certificates.
"For Swedish manufacturers who want to reach one of the world's largest markets, the agreement means a significantly easier path in," says Lars Dagerholt, chairman of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia.
Sweden has previously lacked a certification body, which has forced inspectors from Indonesia to travel to Sweden.
Indonesia's food imports exceed SEK 190 billion per year, according to the Chamber of Commerce.
