Graham Potter has expressed interest in the role as the men's national team's coach after Jon Dahl Tomasson, who was fired on Tuesday.
In an interview with TV4's Football Channel, Potter said he "loves Swedish football".
It would be a fantastic opportunity for me. Of course, said Potter earlier in the week.
Now the site reports that the Swedish Football Association has initiated negotiations with the 50-year-old and the talks are described as positive, according to sources for the Football Channel. They write later that the association is working with several alternatives.
After Potter himself expressed his interest, the association's football manager Kim Källström praised the Englishman, without wanting to comment further.
I think we all know that Graham (Potter) is a very fine and pleasant person, and a very competent football coach, he said on Wednesday.
Graham Potter has previously had great successes in Östersund. Since his move back to England in 2018, he has led, among other things, the Premier League clubs Chelsea and West Ham. Potter is currently clubless, after being fired from his two most recent assignments.
The national team will face Switzerland and Slovenia in the World Championship qualifiers on November 15 and 18, respectively. Regardless of the result, Sweden will most likely play a playoff in March.
The Football World Championship in the USA, Canada, and Mexico will take place between June 11 and July 19.
