"Driving for Ferrari in the first free practice in Bahrain will be a completely unreal moment for me. Formula 1 is my big dream and now I'll get to be part of a real race weekend for the first time, together with the most legendary team in the sport's history", says the talent from Linköping.
During the hour-long practice on Friday in two weeks, he will take over star Charles Leclerc's Ferrari car. The other car will be driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
"Words can't describe what I'm feeling right now. There will be a lot to take in, but my goal is to make the most of this opportunity and help the team in their work ahead of the rest of the race weekend", he says.
The participation is made possible by the International Automobile Federation's (FIA) regulations, which stipulate that each regular F1 driver must give way to a young junior in at least two practice sessions during the season.
Beganovic will be the second Swede ever to drive for Ferrari in Formula 1, after Stefan Johansson who competed for the Italian team during two seasons, 1985-1986, with six podium finishes in 31 starts. The 21-year-old will also be the first Swede to drive during a race weekend in Formula 1 since Marcus Ericsson left the championship after the 2018 season.
Corrected: In an earlier version, the incorrect time was stated for his participation in the free practice, the correct time is Friday, April 11.
