Between January and June this year, the Swedish Enforcement Authority received more than 540,000 applications for payment orders. The total amount claimed fell by just over 15 percent to just over SEK 13 billion.

"The decline is clear and visible on a broad front," says Davor Vuleta, private finance spokesperson at the Swedish Enforcement Authority, in a press release.

However, he points out that half a million applications in six months is still a lot.

“We cannot rest easy or take it for granted that the decline will continue,” Vuleta continues.

The number of cases is decreasing in all age groups. However, in the group aged 65 and older, the number of people affected is basically at the same level as last year.
