The Parliamentary Ombudsman (JO) received a number of complaints against the Swedish Enforcement Authority from individuals who had difficulty reaching the authority by phone last year. The JO's investigation shows that over half of the calls to the Swedish Enforcement Authority were not even answered.

"It is not acceptable", says the Parliamentary Ombudsman Thomas Norling in a press release.

The Swedish Enforcement Authority has chosen the telephone as an important means of contact but is not close to meeting the requirements for accessibility that this entails, he believes.

Furthermore, the Swedish Enforcement Authority receives calls from people who are in a vulnerable situation - they may have to pay a debt or be evicted from their home. The authority therefore receives serious criticism from the JO.
