Endometriosis is a chronic disease in which tissue grows outside the uterus, which can cause inflammation and severe pain. The PSN procedure involves cutting the nerves that carry pain from the uterus.
P3 Nyheter reports on twelve women who traveled to a clinic in Romania for the procedure. Half of them have experienced known complications from the surgery. Several of them say they were neither informed about the risks nor gave their consent.
Since 2022, PSN has not been included in the European guidelines for endometriosis care. This is because there is a lack of scientific evidence that the method is effective.
Corrected: An earlier version contained incorrect information about the women's origins and the problems they had.
