Analysts' average forecast was minus 0.1 percent, according to Bloomberg's compilation.

Growth in March was 1.5 percent compared with the previous month, according to revised figures.

"The Swedish economy continued to grow in April, albeit at a somewhat more cautious pace compared with the strong figures we saw in March. The development was driven by a relatively broad increase in production in both public authorities and the business sector's producers of goods and services, with the industrial sectors in particular standing out with strong growth," says Statistics Sweden economist Mattias Kain Wyatt in a press release.
