Åhman and Hellvig lost the first set 13–21 and were trailing in the second, but then they turned the deficit around, winning the second set 21–19 and the third 15–6 to advance to the semifinals.
In the round of 16, Åhman and Hellvig won 2–1 in sets (21–16, 18–21, 16–14) against the French duo Rotar and Gauthier-Rat in a dramatic match.
The other Swedish duo, Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson, were eliminated in the Czech Republic.
They lost to Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, representing Qatar, in the round of 16.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Sunday.
