Swedish Dino Beganovic started, for the first time since the "promotion" to F2 before the season, in pole position during the race on Imola in Italy.
But no victory was achieved on home ground for the 21-year-old, who only lives a few hours away from the track and is part of Ferrari's junior program.
Instead, Beganovic had to "settle" for the season's second podium finish in the form of a third place. The first one came in Bahrain about a month ago. The Irishman Alex Dunne won.
The Linköping native is in ninth place in the championship.
The Swede has already got to try out life as an F1 driver, when he got to drive one of the free practice sessions in the Bahrain.
Correction: In an earlier version, the incorrect final position was stated in the headline.
