Swedish municipalities and companies have done business with a company linked to Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg, who is close to President Vladimir Putin, according to an investigation by Dagens Arbete.

According to the newspaper, the Swedish subsidiary of the pump company Sulzer performs service work in environments that are sensitive to Sweden's total defense.

This includes pumping technology for water and wastewater facilities. The company's web-based system is also used for controlling and monitoring the pumps.

If you are inside and installing pumps, you can see what the inner workings of a waterworks look like and where the strengths and vulnerabilities are, security expert Jörgen Holmlund at the Swedish National Defence University tells the newspaper.

According to the company, Vekselberg no longer has any influence over decisions.
