The Swedes excelled as Pittsburgh beat New Jersey 4-1 at home in last night's NHL game.

In the seventh minute, Pittsburgh took control of the game when Erik Karlsson scored, assisted by fellow Swede Rickard Rakell.

It remained scoreless until the second period. A few minutes in, Rakell was back and made it 2–0.

Pittsburgh continued to dominate the game. With just seconds left in the second period, defenseman Erik Karlsson passed to Evgeni Malkin for Pittsburgh's third.

New Jersey tried to catch up in the final period and scored on the power play. But the uphill battle was too great.

Pittsburgh added another goal when Blake Lizotte made the final score 4–1.
