Dallas will have to pay over 1.1 million kronor in fines for organizing training during the mandatory Christmas break, announces NHL.

Swedish defender Nils Lundkvist, 24, was one of the players who showed up at the training session on Boxing Day.

The collective agreement between the NHL and the league's players' union prohibits ice activities on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Dallas coach Pete DeBoer has admitted that he may have made a mistake by arranging a "voluntary ice training".

Of course, all the young guys showed up for the voluntary training sessions they're supposed to, he said earlier, ahead of Friday's match.

In addition to Lundkvist, Mavrik Bourque, Logan Stankoven, Wyatt Johnston, Lian Bichsel, and Thomas Harley participated.
