With almost 25 kilometers remaining in the final stage between Balatonalmádi and Veszprém, the last big breakaway formed.
One of the more than ten cyclists in it was Söderqvist, but the group gradually thinned. For Söderqvist, a crash five kilometers later cost him his place in the break.
But the lead the Swede carried with him from the chaotic fourth stage - which he won after it was shortened due to rain - lasted all the way to the finish.
The Swede ultimately finished 38th in the stage and secured Sweden's first stage race victory in twelve years, according to HBO Max.
