The crane going by the name of Lady B has set a new age record for cranes in Sweden.
Lady B was ring-marked in Svenljunga on June 30, 1997, when she was around 7-8 weeks old. She has thus reached an age of almost 28 years.
Since the ring-marking in Sweden, she has been noted in, among other places, Germany and Spain, writes Birdlife Sweden on its website.
Right now, she is breeding in Tranemo in Västergötland, not far from the place where she was ring-marked as a young bird. Since 2002, she has bred in the area and a total of ten young have left the territory.
