The decision that was hammered out on Wednesday also means that a person who acquired Swedish citizenship on incorrect grounds can be stripped of their citizenship if they are also a citizen of another country.
The type of crime that is considered to “seriously harm Sweden’s vital interests” is not listed in the constitutional amendment. It will be defined in more detail later in ordinary legislation. According to the government, the term includes, among other things, certain serious “system-threatening” crimes committed as part of criminal networks.
