A Swedish citizen has been arrested at an airport in Mexico City, reports Aftonbladet and Mexican media.

According to the information, the man was arrested with 30 kilos of methamphetamine before a flight to London on Sunday evening.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) confirms to TT that a Swedish man in his 20s has been detained in Mexico.

He risks up to 25 years in a Mexican prison, writes local media. In pictures published by Benito Juárez Airport on X, a large number of plastic-wrapped packages allegedly belonging to the Swede can be seen.

According to the MFA, the man is from Götaland. Otherwise, they do not want to comment on the matter.

"We do not comment in detail on how the MFA's support looks in individual cases, as there may be consular secrecy", it is stated.
