The Swedish biathlon team is strengthening its staff with coach Florian Steirer. The Austrian has previously, among other things, been a coach for German stars Laura Dahlmeier and Denise Herrmann.

When Steirer now becomes blue-yellow, the idea is that he will function as a ball bounce for the coaching team, primarily within shooting training.

"This feels like an exciting step. I have a very good dialogue with my shooting coach Jean-Marc Chabloz and we work well together. However, it will be interesting to see what new inputs come from this initiative", says Martin Ponsiluoma in a press release.

The recruitment of Steirer is part of an effort made together with the Swedish Olympic Committee.

"We are confident that we already hold a high level in shooting training today, but see it as important to continue being curious and work further with development", says the Ski Association's sports manager Anna-Maria Uusitalo.

Steirer's previous protégés Dahlmeier and Herrmann took gold in both the World Championship and the Olympic Games during their careers.
