The Swedish pair Åhman and Hellvig, who last year took Olympic Games gold in Paris, defeated the French pair Téo Rotar/Arnaud Gauthier-Rat with 2–1 in sets, 21–14, 18–21, 15–11.
Shortly after, Sweden's other pair, Jacob Hölting-Nilsson and Elmer Andersson, played against the World Champions Perusic/Schweiner from the Czech Republic. There was also a Swedish victory with 2–0 in sets, 21–19, 21–19.
The two Swedish pairs will play the quarterfinals in the tournament later today.
