Meir will be part of a NASA expedition to the ISS, scheduled for February.
"Not only will Jessica Meir have the opportunity to return to space, she will also serve as commander of the space station. A prestigious assignment to say the least," the Swedish Space Agency writes in a press release.
On board the space station, Meir will conduct scientific experiments that will, among other things, be helpful for future manned trips to the Moon and Mars.
Meir became the second Swede in space during her 205-day stay on the ISS in 2019–2020, where she participated in hundreds of experiments in areas including biology, medicine and technology.
