The pollution is due to the Armed Forces' activities at Galgberget in Halmstad, according to the municipality and the municipal company responsible for the public water and sewage supply in Halmstad and Laholm.
PFAS treatment has been installed at two waterworks, and one waterworks has had to be taken out of operation. The cost of investigations and investment in treatment is reported to amount to SEK 146 million.
"We believe that the cost of the measures should be borne by the party that caused the pollution and not burden the water and sanitation collective," says Henrik Frindberg, CEO of the municipal company, in a press release.
