The production value in the sector last year totaled SEK 786 million, the Swedish Board of Agriculture writes in a press release.
That is 10 percent higher than in 2024 and 18 percent higher than the average for the previous five years.
84 percent of the value came from food production and 16 percent came from releases of, for example, gilthead seabream or roe into other aquaculture or natural waters.
The production of farmed food fish decreased by 8 percent in 2024–2025. However, mussels and oysters recovered to a more normal level after an unusually small harvest in 2024.
Production of roe, fry, larvae and small fish increased by 30 percent.
