Örtengren won the US Open qualifier in Corral del Tierra, California, by four strokes, finishing four under par after two rounds of 70. Now she can look forward to playing the second major of her career at Riviera Country Club, June 4–7.

Örtengren, who is ranked fifth in the world among amateurs, studies at prestigious Stanford University. However, she has already shown her mettle at the professional level. Last summer, she won the European Tour event at Hills outside Gothenburg and a few weeks earlier made her major debut at the British Open, although she missed the qualifying threshold.

Maja Stark is the reigning U.S. Women's Open champion, which is the next major for women's golf.
