Swedish Agency Finds No Widespread Foreign Campaign Over Election Fraud Claims

Around 100,000 posts alleging voter fraud in the Swedish election have been spread by foreign accounts critical of immigration. However, the Swedish Psychological Defence Agency (MPF) sees no foreign influence campaign.

Since the parliamentary election, discussion of Sweden abroad has largely focused on election fraud and has been fuelled by large accounts critical of immigration, the Swedish Institute previously told Sveriges Radio Ekot.

MPF writes to TT that the agency does not see any "extensive or coordinated undue information influence directed against Sweden by a foreign power linked to the issue".

The situation is constantly being monitored. According to MPF, actors seeking to influence Sweden are opportunists:

"If they see an opportunity to exploit political discussions and debates, or other topics that arouse strong emotions and reactions, they often try to do so," the press service writes to TT.
