The actor Per Mattsson has passed away, 77 years old, reports Dramaten to TT. "He leaves a great void behind him in Dramaten's modern history", says the theatre manager Mattias Andersson.

Per Mattsson was strongly associated with Dramaten where he debuted in 1972 and he remained faithful to the national stage for almost his entire career.

"He was an incredibly sensitive and multifaceted actor who performed nearly a hundred roles at Dramaten," says Mattias Andersson in a written statement.

Among Per Mattsson's well-known Dramaten roles are the performance as David in "Natten är dagens mor", 1983, for which he received Svenska Dagbladets Thaliapris. Mattsson was also hired by Lars Norén, including in "Andante" and "Stilla liv".

In 2015, Per Mattsson received Dramatens O'Neillpris.

Per Mattsson also performed several roles in film, such as "Vargens tid", "Venus 90" and "Kronvittnet" as well as in the TV movie "Ester - om John Bauers hustru" and in the hospital series "OP:7".
