In a letter to the Ministry of Finance, the Academy expresses concern about rent increases by the National Property Board (SFV) for cultural institutions.
"An increasingly large share of cultural institutions’ funding goes towards renting premises rather than core activities," writes the Academy, which points out that the National Audit Office also wants the rental model to be reviewed.
The Academy writes that SFV’s yield requirement is driving up rents. At the same time, SFV’s financial results have exceeded the requirement. The increasingly higher results, in turn, lead to rent increases. "That is obviously what has happened, leading to SFV making what should be called excess profits," the Academy writes.
