The men, who are 16 and 19 years old, are suspected of having transported five hand grenades and of having thrown two of them towards a rooftop terrace in Hellerup north of Copenhagen, where the Israeli embassy is located.

On Saturday, the suspicion of crime was extended to also include offenses against the terrorism law.

"The investigation of the incident continues in close cooperation with PET (Danish Security and Intelligence Service)", writes the Copenhagen police on X.

TT has sought the Copenhagen police and the Swedish prosecutor Cecilia Holmberg, who does not provide any further comments at present.

Shots also in Stockholm

The evening before, shots were fired at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm. Prosecutor Cecilia Holmbom has confirmed that there is a connection between the events. On Friday, no one was detained for the shooting at the embassy in Stockholm.

According to information to the media, the police suspect that it is the now-split network Foxtrot, led by Rawa Majid, that is behind the actions in Stockholm and Copenhagen – on behalf of Iran.

Säpo's operational chief Fredrik Hallström stated on Thursday that an "objective hypothesis" is that Iran may have been involved in the attacks.

Since it resembles what has happened on previous occasions, i.e. target selection and modus operandi, he said to TT.

Remanded in custody on Thursday

The men, who come from Stockholm County, were remanded in custody in Denmark on Thursday. According to Danish TV2, which has mapped their background, both are known to the police and social authorities in Sweden – but for less serious offenses.

On August 6 this year, the 19-year-old was stopped in a car outside a store in the middle of the night and was later charged with possession of cannabis, unauthorized driving, and driving with narcotics in his blood.

The 16-year-old is noted in a judgment for petty theft.

It is our opinion that there are accomplices, but I cannot say why we believe it, said Danish prosecutor Søren Harbo to TT after the remand hearing in Copenhagen.

After the incident at the embassy in Stockholm, the police have strengthened their presence at Jewish and Israeli objects.
