In May this year, 67.9 percent said they were positive about Sweden's membership in NATO, while 21 percent were negative. A higher proportion of men (71.6 percent) than women (64.3 percent) were positive about membership, while 11.1 percent said they did not know or did not want to answer the question.
The Swedes' attitude towards NATO membership shows no major changes compared with May last year. There is no statistically significant change in the proportion who say they are positive or negative.
However, support for NATO membership has increased, especially among women, since Statistics Sweden first asked the question in May 2022. At that time, 62.5 percent said they were positive about membership - among women, support was 56.7 percent, among men 68.4 percent.
