"It feels like there is never a good time to step down as national team captain, but with a little more than two years left until the Olympics, it feels like an appropriate time to step aside," says Tobias Bergman in a press release.
Bergman has been the national captain of the Swedish women's table tennis team since 2022 and briefly led both the women's and men's teams. Since this summer, he has also had primary responsibility for the new Olympic-class mixed team.
He led a Swedish women's team to the Olympics for the first time, at Paris 2024.
Bergman will remain until July 31 and will lead the national team at the World Cup in Macau and at the Team World Championships this spring.
