Unemployment has thus increased from 6.6 percent in June last year to 6.9 percent in one year, according to statistics from the Employment Service.

According to the Employment Service's forecast, unemployment will stop increasing during 2025 and gradually decrease during 2026.

It is very uncertain. Trade policy and the security situation also affect the labor market, says Lars Lindvall, unit manager at the Employment Service's analysis department.

The increase in unemployed is slightly larger among women. The number of registered unemployed women increased in June by nearly 10,000 to 177,000.

The number of unemployed men increased by nearly 9,000 to 189,000 registered.

The construction sector has been severely affected during the recession, as well as the private service sector, says Lindvall.

Among young people between 18 and 24 years, unemployment is increasing less. In June, 7.8 percent of young people were registered as unemployed, compared to 7.7 percent the same month last year. What it depends on is difficult to say, according to Lindvall.

A bright spot is that it is at the same level.
