Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist will be Sweden's team for the sprint relay at the Olympics. Individual winner Linn Svahn is ill.

Sundling and Dahlqvist won silver and bronze in the individual sprint event at the Olympics last week. Together they also won silver in the sprint relay at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Nevertheless, individual sprint winner Linn Svahn was, of course, a strong option beforehand.

"But she has actually been a bit off since yesterday," national team manager Anders Byström said at a press conference in Val di Fiemme.

"If she had been healthy, she would have been a choice we would have made. But Maja Dahlqvist is an incredibly good replacement and she was prepared," Byström said.

However, Svahn's illness is not severe.

"She has some mild symptoms. But it is enough that we believe it has a negative impact on her performance, and given that we have such strong alternatives, we choose to go with what is a safer bet," national team doctor Rickard Noberius said.

In the men's competition, Sweden will be represented by Johan Häggström and Edvin Anger.

The competitions will be decided on Wednesday.
