Sweden's Radio P4 is scrapping the traffic radio editorial team's alarm sound and replacing it with a less disturbing radio jingle. According to Ulf Myrestam, channel manager at P4, the loud alarm sound has been perceived as disturbing.

Our hope is that we have found a level where it is clear that "now there will be traffic information or an important traffic event", he says to P4 Västerbotten.

You will always hear the same signal and it will not be so disturbing - if you are not affected - that you need to risk driving off the road because you get scared of the beep.

The change has already been implemented.
